Application/policy issuance: Applicant identity → application → source-system underwriting outcome → policy document → signing/acknowledgement.
Insurance
Applications, policies, claim documentation and approvals can move through a signing journey with explicit audit and evidence.
Blueprint around business flow and evidence
The Insurance blueprint is a reference deployment pattern; it does not represent a named customer or an industry compliance certification.

| Actor | Responsibility | Handoff evidence |
|---|---|---|
| Business system | Finalize and approve the industry record | Document and source decision |
| Authorized signer | Review and authorize the document | Identity and signing intent |
| Mobile-ID / CA / RSSP | Orchestrate, sign and verify | State and signed output |
Insurance workflows
Insurance separates application, policy, endorsement, claim and settlement because actors and evidence differ.
Endorsement: Policy reference → requested change → approval → amendment document → signature → audit.
Claim/settlement: Claim case → document package → insurer-system decision → settlement agreement → signing → evidence.

| Risk | Handling posture |
|---|---|
| Wrong policy version | Compare the approved version; changed content needs a new policy-governed request without reusing old authorization. |
| Claim context lost | Keep the record unresolved; use transaction and decision references to reconcile missing evidence. |
| Unauthorized signer | Stop signing; confirm representation authority and record approval before a new transaction. |
Workflow-specific content replaces generic vertical cards
Business decisions remain in the authoritative banking/securities/insurance/government system; Sign handles the signing journey and its evidence boundary.

Separating underwriting/claim decisions from signing
Source system owns business decisions
In insurance, underwriting, policy issuance and claim decisions remain with the authoritative business system. Sign does not decide insurance risk or claim outcome; it handles the document/signing journey after the decision source creates or approves the document to be signed or acknowledged.
Exceptions to handle
Policy, endorsement and settlement documents need clear version/reference control to prevent signing an obsolete document. Exceptions include applicant/customer cancellation, document regeneration, provider outage, transaction expiry or evidence mismatch. When a document changes, policy should require a new transaction rather than reuse old authorization.
Handover responsibilities
- Source system
- Finalize record, version, signers and business decision.
- Mobile-ID Sign
- Orchestrate the permitted route; correlate transaction state, result and evidence.
- Signer and provider
- The signer authorizes; the provider creates the signature within the applicable service scope.
Evidence can link application/claim/policy reference, document hash/version, approval source, signer/authorization, signature result and archive/delivery events; retention depends on the insurer's product and legal policy.
